Dick Retterath Obituary

Richard (Dick) Retterath, 84, died peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family, at his home in Eyota on Friday, January 12th, 2024.

Dick was born August 15th, 1939, in Adams, MN to Alfred & Rose (Rauen) Retterath.

They moved to Austin, MN where he attended Queen of Angels Elementary School & Pacelli High School.

He entered the Army & served with the 25th Infantry “Tropic Lightening” Division.

Dick was married to the love of his life, Linda Dietrich on November 4th, 1961, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota, MN

They lived in Rochester before moving to a small acreage in Eyota where they raised their family. In 1996 they built a home in the city of Eyota.

Dick was employed by Werner Electric for 39 years before retiring in 2001 & Linda retired from the Rochester School District 535.

He was a member of the Eyota Sportsman Club, the first Eyota Days Committee, the Eyota American Legion & the Holy Redeemer parish council.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, snowmobiling, playing games with his family & his weekly poker games with his best friends.  He could also be found frequently at the “Table of Knowledge” at the Eyota Café throwing dice.  He was a longtime supporter of the Dover Eyota Football team & was the timeclock keeper from his seat in “The Nest”.

He & Linda wintered in Panama City Beach, Fl for many years & also traveled to Hawaii, Mexico, the Cayman Islands & Sweden to visit Linda’s cousin. 

Dick is survived by his wife Linda of 62 years, Daughter Tamra (Steve) Rucker of Oronoco, Sons, Bruce (Kelly) Retterath & Eric Retterath, both of Rochester & grandchildren, Katie Rose, Jared & Brandon Rucker.

Dick is also survived by his sister Pat Retterath of St. Louis Park, MN, brother Alan (Cheryl) Retterath of Lyle, MN, sister-in-law, June Retterath of Rochester, MN & many cousins, nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents & brother, Jim Retterath.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, January 27th, 2024 at 11:00am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Eyota.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

Memorials are preferred to the Eyota American Legion, 11 N. Madison Ave, Eyota, MN  55934
