Helen Marie Kahn, age 88, of Plainview, died Tuesday, January 29, 2019
at Mayo Clinic Hospital-Rochester, St. Mary’s Campus.
Helen was born October 26, 1930 on the farm in Quincy Township to
Richard and Winnie (Ihrke) Bedtka. She attended country school and
was active in the Quincy 4H Ramblers. On September 2, 1948 she
married Oral Kahn in St. Charles. The couple lived and farmed briefly in
Chatfield, then lived in Plainview, Weaver and Wabasha. Mr. Kahn died
May 2, 1991. Helen moved to Plainview two years ago. She was a
longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wabasha.
Helen is survived by her children; Richard (Cynthia) Kahn of St. Charles,
Duane (Cindy) Kahn of Minneiska, Darlene (Ralph Jr.) Heaser of Kellogg
and Janet Nickelsen of Plainview; 10 grandchildren, Michael (Ann) Kahn,
Alisha Kahn, Clinton (Missy) Kahn, Justin (Jennie) Kahn, Colleen (Tony
Green) Olson, Jonathan (Sara) Heaser, Curtis Heaser, Holle Heaser,
Jeromy (Veronica) Nickelsen and Josh (Rachel) Nickelsen; 11 great-
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 5 brothers
,1 great-
grandson, Carson Nickelsen
and son-in-law, Roger Nickelsen.
Funeral services is Thursday, February 7th, 11:00 a.m at Our Redeemer
Lutheran Church in Wabasha with Pastor David Peters officiating. Burial
is at Little Valley Cemetery, rural Dover. Visitation is Wednesday, 4-7 p.
m. at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and one hour prior to the
service at the church on Thursday.
