George A. Enright, 84, passed away peacefully Monday, February 8, 2021 at his
home in Eyota surrounded by family.
George was born March 6, 1936 in Austin, MN to Claude and Pearl (Gilliland)
Enright. He attended school in Austin then enlisted in the US Air Force.
On August 25, 1965 he married Joyce Sanneman from Owatonna. After marriage
George’s work led them to live in several states before settling down in Dover,
MN in 1978 and later moving to Eyota in 1986. George retired as a heavy
equipment operator and was a member of the Local 49’ers. George was a bit of
an “idea guy” and had an entrepreneurial spirit which led him to own and operate
a variety of businesses over the years including two trucking companies, a bar,
and gas/service station.
George had a strong work ethic and made little time for hobbies but when he did
take time off he enjoyed racing stock cars, camping, traveling the US by RV and in
his later years searching the online auctions sites for the next greatest treasure!
George always welcomed a happy hour with friends and family and often had a
new joke or two to share, some appropriate but most not! His sense of humor
was second to none and anyone who knew him would agree.
George is survived by his wife Joyce; children, Cindy (Bob) Schlink, Kim Grems (Al
Schroht), Pete Grass, Rick (Darla) Enright, Chris (Craig) Austin and Jerry (Andrea)
Enright; 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; brothers Ed and Al Enright and
sister Valeria Janeski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
A private funeral service will be at Peace Lutheran Church in Eyota. Interment
and celebration of life to be held at a later date.
Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Eyota is assisting the family with arrangements.
