Obituaries 2019
Betty Bierbaum 89 died peacefully Friday, September 25 at her son’s
home. Betty Lou Lydia Bierbaum was born August 9 1931 on the Walters
family farm north of Dover MN. She was proud to be named after both of
her parents Louis and Lydia (Ihrke) Walters. She was baptized, confirmed
and married at St. John’s Lutheran Church North of Eyota. She attended
District 128 country school. Upon her eighth grade graduation, she
proclaimed that she was not going on to high school, rather she was going
to marry a farmer and have three kids.  She worked briefly for St. Mary’s
Hospital until her marriage on Sept. 22 1951 to Henry Bierbaum.
The couple farmed side by side on the family farm North of Eyota. She took
great pleasure in raising dogs for Pine Crest Kennels for many years. She
also taught Sunday school for nearly twenty years at Our Saviors
Lutheran, Eyota. In 1991 the couple were King and Queen of the Viola
Gopher Count. Mrs. Bierbaum enjoyed playing cards and long drives in the
country. She was known for her warm hugs for nearly everyone she meet.
She had a very special place in her heart for her church family and missed
them greatly in the past months.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry in 1999 and all of her
siblings and their spouses: Elmer & Cindy Walters, Glenn & Eileen Walters,
Munson & Verna Gowland, Richard & Anna Bennett, Freddie & Adeline
Walters, William & Inez Walters.
She is survived by her three children: Allen & Susan of Reeseville WI,
LuAnn & Jerry Haack of Rochester, and Dale & Mary Jette of Eyota. Three
grandchildren: Michelle & Jeremy Braem, Melissa & Zach Montgomery, and
Mitchell Haack. Six great grandchildren: Ashley, Megan, Henry, and William
Braem and Peyton and Elliott Montgomery.
A private funeral will be held with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery Viola. Schad
and Zabel Funeral Home.
